With the fall season in full swing, people tend to crave heavier and warmer cocktails. But seeing as winter hasn’t come just yet (that’s a cheap Game of Thrones reference, for the two of you that don’t watch the show), I didn’t want to dive straight into the usual suspects like the Brandy Alexander or Spiked Apple Cider.
There are lot fall-inspired cocktails out there to discover, which led me to the Revolver. A pretty bad ass name for a pretty delicious drink.
Here’s the recipe:
1 ½ oz bourbon
⅓ oz coffee liqueur (I used Kahlua)
2 dashes of orange bitters
Chill a coupe with ice and set aside. Fill a mixing glass with ice and add ingredients. Stir until well chilled, remove ice from coupe and strain. Garnish with an orange peel if desired.
The coffee liqueur will tend to overpower the other ingredients, so don’t be shy in adding a bit more bourbon if desired. The result is a perfect cold weather cocktail to drink while watching the leaves fall. It’s also ideal as a dessert.
So before you start counting down the days before Christmas (you have, haven’t you…), experiment with some fall-inspired cocktails first. Slow things down and soak in the season.
