The Ramos Gin Fizz belongs to the long list of famous cocktails with origins in New Orleans. The drink was created by Henry C. Ramos in the late 1800s at his Imperial Cabinet Saloon. It’s said that the drink became so popular that Ramos’ bar had specific bartenders solely dedicated to making his famous concoction.

2 oz gin
½ oz lime juice
½ oz lemon juice
¾ oz simple syrup
3 dashes orange flower water
½ oz heavy cream
1 egg white
Club soda

Fill a shaker with all the ingredients except for the club soda and dry shake (without any ice) for 1 minute. Fill the shaker with ice and shake for another minute or two. Pour the mixture into a collins glass and top with club soda.

NOTE: The original recipe apparently called for 12 minutes of shaking, a true workout indeed.  I needed a break after 3.

After all that shaking, you deserve your tasty reward.

Hopefully your hangover clears up too!
